Sir Nicholas Hytner has been Director of the National Theatre since 2003, where he redefined the London theatre scene, making it accessible to the masses.
As the Director of much-loved productions Miss Saigon, The History Boys and One Man, Two Guvnors to name but a few, Hytner's work has brought a great deal of joy to many throughout the decades.
Last year, Nicholas confirmed that his tenure at the Nat would be ceasing in 2015 and obviously he will be sadly missed but no doubt there will be ventures new?
As it was his birthday this week, we've gone through our archives to share with you a snapshot of Sir Nicholas Hytner's remarkable career.
