Sir Terence Conran

Renowned designer and entrepreneur Sir Terence Conran has paved the way for British design since setting up his first business in a Notting Hill basement 62 years ago.

In order to get his designs into the public realm, Conran founded Habitat in 1964, the success of which later led him to set up the first branch of The Conran Shop in 1973.

Driven by a desire to see modern design flourish in Britain, he set up the Design Museum in the 80’s, with the Butlers Wharf location opening in 1989.

Since then Sir Terence has continued to be an international success, selling books, setting up restaurants, hotels and shops across the world.

We’ve taken a look back through our archives to show you some of the highlights of Sir Terence Conran’s remarkable career.
