The family business was founded in 1925 in Rome where husband and wife Edoardo and Adele had a shop selling leathergoods/bags and furs.

Prada and LVMH jointly bought into Fendi in 1999 having fought off a bid from Gucci and LVMH then bought Prada's share in 2001
The president of LVMH - Bernard Arnault is currently miffed with the new French President Monsieur Francois Hollande where he intends to raise the taxes 'for some' to 75% and is therefore seeking to become Belgian . Bernard is said to be worth $41 billion!!!! He taken the move of avoiding crippling taxes before when he became American citizen in 1981 when there was a Socialist government in France as is the case today.
Karl Lagerfield started designing for Fendi in 1965 and after all these years he is still creative director.
Marvin Traub the President of Bloomingdales - New York discovered the Fendi brand in Rome in the 60's and shortly after launched the brand FENDI and the'baguette bags' to enormous success in the States.
