William Tempest for River Island

River Island has collaborated with fashion designer William Tempest as part of its Design Forum initiative, which sees the high street brand team up with young creative talent for limited edition collections.
Tempest's inspiration for the range came from ancient Egyptian mythology, 20s interiors and the works of M.C. Escher and the collection features evening wear separates, dresses and laser cut heels. A scarab beetle motif runs throughout the range which is a symbol of wealth and power for ancient Egyptians.

The collection debuts via short film at the Fash/on Film initiative in September during LFW.

William Tempest 1985 is a British designer from Cheshire. He studied at London College of Fashion working with Giles Deacon and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac before creating his own label in 2009, first showing at London Fashion Week in 2010. He has a large celebrity following which includes  Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Alexa Chung and Victoria Beckham to name a few.

But this isn't the first time that River Island have collaborated with a designer. Back in the early nineties Charlotte Halton had a small collection designed especially for River Island and we have some of the printed ads!

What are your thoughts, will you be queueing round the block for a William Tempest garment?
