THOMAS HEATHERWICK IS WHERE THE FIRST OF TEAM GB'S GOLD MEDALS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HUNG

Accepting that the master mind of the all enveloping Ceremony - DANNY BOYLE - should be knighted and given the freedom of every village, town and city in GREAT BRITAIN

It was hard to pick out the most poignant piece of the spectacular 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony - the whole ever evolving historical cameos were totally spellbinding, memorable and emotionally charging to anybody watching the event on our television screens.

I will be picking out 'the memories' over the next days, weeks and months but just wish to  start by extolling  the miraculous ingenuity and creative virtues of Thomas Heatherwick.

 FANTASTIC.

We've already blogged about Thomas on two occasions over the last 2 months so you'll have realised that we are fervent 'groupies' of all that Thomas does.

The lighting by the 5 young athletes of the 204 elements that made up what was a new interpretation of the traditional Olympic Torch towards the end of the Ceremony was very dramatic and awe inspiring.

 AWESOME.

Having witnessed our historical past played out so wonderfully during the course of the evening it was totally appropriate to end in such a 'to the minute'  innovative way that for sure caught all our breath.

BREATHLESS
