Making Scents - Rochas Perfume Campaigns

Founded in 1925 by couturier Marcel Rochas, Rochas, based in Paris, began as a Couture house dubbed 'Designer of the young.'

Marcel developed a reputation for excellent perfume.  The first 3 scents were labelled 'Avenue Matignon' (named after the street where the House dwelled) 'Air Jeune' and 'Audace'.  

'Femme', a very famous scent from Rochas, was launched in 1944 with the first bottle being given by Marcel to his wife Helene on their wedding night.  

The luxury scents became so successful that in 1953 Rochas dropped the garment side of the house to concentrate purely on perfume.

More recently, Rochas have attempted to re-launch the garment aspect of the business with Olivier Theyskens taking the reigns as Creative Director in 2002 but this was brought to a halt in 2006.  

Rochas was again re-launched in 2009 under the direction of Italian designer Marco Zanini - third time lucky? (we think the knitwear looks great)
