YGM Trading, from mainland China , were already the sole franchisees and master licensees of the Aquascutum brand having already gained the rights for South East Asia/CHINA after the new management of the brand, they themselves having bought Aquascutum from Renown, struck what turned out to be their Achilles Heel when the 'going got tough'after 2008/Lehman Collapse. It is suggested that they did the incorrect deal as by 'taking the money' to aid with the brand's purchase and thereby they forsook all on going rights and royalties - so I'm told?
Yes Aquasctum failed and Jaeger not long aftrerwards all earlier this year.
Being the year of the 2012 Olympics here in London begs the question in these competitive economic times as to whether Aquascutum could claim to be in 'the final' of the ever present race for survival.
Would they gain a podium position for gaining an adequate share of their designated markets?
We hear that China is 'slowing down a little' which effects all the surrounding countries and ultimately mirrors the horrors of USA and Europe!!!,
We wish them well
